❄️Homemade Christmas❄️ – Stockings

I’m a HUGE fan of ‘homemade’ especially when it comes to Christmas ((in fact I love ANYTHING to do with Christmas… Period))

My little boy turns one 3 weeks before Christmas and since having him it’s become even more important to me that we not only have a magical Christmas but that as he gets older he sees that Christmas is about family time, making and giving gifts to loved ones and above all making memories. For us the last thing we want is for him to think that Christmas is all about receiving the most expensive & biggest presents!

So I’m going to write a few posts each time I do something to go along with my Homemade Christmas theme. You’re all excited I can tell {{Sniggers}}

I came across a plain natural stocking whilst mooching about in Hobby Craft ((seriously they may as well give me a job in there I’m in there that much!)) it cost £2 bargain! I started thinking about all the things I could do to beautify and make this tired plain stocking look awesome! I possess ((as you may imagine)) a large amount of bits and pieces that could transform said stocking, I have a drawer set that contains felt, material, cottons, embroidery thread, ribbons, buttons… anyway all manner of things!

I decided I wanted to embroider our sons name on to the front, and jazz it up with a spot of ‘Snow’ and stars as when he was all fresh and new we had these teeny sleep suits that had stars all over.

I used a star cookie cutter to get the shape just right, and pencil drew on his name, and just started sewing the very best thing about felt is it doesn’t fray (yay) so no having to sew the edges under, I just layered my stars over each other but sewed each star on properly as I don’t want anything loose incase small child gets hold of it! For this reason I securely attached 2 jingle bells to the loop for hanging.

This took all of about 2hrs, from start to finish.

If you’re not good with sewing you could always use the iron on stuff (to turn hems up on trousers) and use a sharpie to write the names ((although I would use old newspaper inside to avoid names transferring to the back))

Before & after Pics ((these are opposite ways round as I forgot to take a before pic before I started!))
